The child of two biologists, Katie grew up in the woods of southern Oregon; poking, prying, and pondering all things natural. She took her first rafting trip (and inadvertent swim) at 11, started guiding because it offered her more time in the wilderness; chose Whitman College because it has a great outdoor program; prioritized classes based on their field labs; and majored in Biology because it seemed like the best way to spend more time outside. She’s currently studying Science Illustration at Cal-State Monterey Bay because, well, because who wouldn’t want to learn how to draw animals?
Where she goes next is still up in the air, but we’re pretty sure she’ll be packing a tent.
